Spring CERT Training 2022

This spring five members of the club participated in the San Bruno Fire Department's CERT(Civilian Emergency Response Team) refresher course led by Chief Ari Delay, KM6EBE of the San Bruno Fire Department.

The Saturday session covered putting out fires with small fire extinguishers, triaging victims of mass casualty incidents and a session on "Stop the Bleed" which included hands on training in the proper usage of tourniquets and packing wounds that call for immediate attention. The participants learned among other things that certain wounds can cause a person to "bleed out" in as little as 3 minutes.

This refresher course is a prelude to plans later this summer for a full course for those interested in becoming involved in San Bruno's CERT program. For more information contact the San Bruno Fire Departments website
